Myspace has changed the Top div, including the Navigation Bar - there is currently no way to style it exactly to your liking, but myspace is constantly updating the code for it, so hopefully it will soon be possible. Keep your eye on this updated page

Any time myspace makes a change to the TOP DIV code, that page will be updated.

In fact, here is an index of Commonly Asked Questions (CAQ's? lol)

Myspace has disabled the ability to put STYLES into the picture captions, so you can no longer change the colors of your view more pictures pages, or hide your picture comments. However, last time they did that, they re-enabled it a week or so later, but it's starting to look like they will not be re-enabling that ability this time. I will update this if/when they ever do re-enable it.

Myspace has changed the way comment boxes work, probably due to some sort of spammer abuse with form submits.

To get the updated code for a comment box, use the new Katamari Comment Box Manager 2.0

For band profiles, myspace is now converting quotes to ’ for some reason, which makes the URL for your background image not work.

example:
background-image:url('http://somesite.com/image.gif');

It's changing to

background-image:url(rsquo;http://somesite.com/image.gifrsquo;);

There is a simple solution tho, just remove the quotes, they arent needed anyways.

Myspace no longer allows any "fake HTML" in your profile.

What does that mean? Well, you know how on your edit page, it explains to put a <Z> into your interests sections to disable the links?

Well, that now gets filtered and turns into two dots, making all of the text in your interests sections back into black links. Why is this happening? Your guess is as good as mine.

However, there is a solution, simply remove those dots, and use this instead of the <Z>

<b></b>

here's something else to try

<img width="0" src="http://x.myspace.com/images/clear.gif" />

If that doesnt fix it, try using this instead:

<br />

or this

<br style="display:none;" />

Another alternative to jumping thru these hoops would be to Create a Custom Interests Section. Then you dont have to worry about which things work and which dont.

Also, if you added html comments to your code that <look like this> those will also turn into 2 dots.

Also, the <NOBR></NOBR> method of keeping pictures all on one line no longer works, so you will need to use this method instead.

Myspace no longer allows any HTML in the captions of your pictures.

This means you will not be able to put images into your captions anymore, and you will no longer be able to customize the look of your view more pictures page.

Last time this happened tho, Myspace changed it back, so only time will tell if this is a permanent change or not.

If anyone who works at myspace is reading this, people would probably be glad to give up HTML in the captions is there was a built-into-myspace way of customizing their view more pictures page much like the standard beta myspace profile editor.... and maybe still allow images in the captions, but only if it's entered into a popup box that can confirm the validity of the URL being a mere DIRECT LINK to an image.

Myspace no longer allows the hiding of the Bottom Links

If you would like verification of this, read this, or come ask about it in the official Myspace Customizing Forum

Myspace added the following code today seemingly to prevent people from hiding the User Shortcuts Dropdown.

Here is what they added:

#profilelinks select { top: inherit !important; visibility:visible !important; WIDTH: 125px !important; display:inline !important; position:static; }

There are several ways that it can still be hidden, but I have chosen to not give out that code, since it's apparent to me that myspace doesnt want it hidden. Why would they not want you to hide it? Probably because so many people hide their contact table, or create an overlay that hides it, and then dont include a BLOCK ME link, which is required in ALL profiles.

Myspace added new Homepage skins today, and also moved the "back to Classic Mode" link. Many people are having difficulties finding this link, so I created this:
Getting Back the Classic Homepage

Also, people are having difficulties after they try out the Myspace Profile Editor, not realizing they have to clear out the myspace code if they want to go back to using copy/paste layout codes. It has caused problems like your copy/paste background shows and then disappears, and having the contact table disappear. Read the Clearing Out Myspace Editor Code if you need to know how to clear it out.

Myspace made a change to the extended network today.

fixed

If you are currently using a layout/code that sets the background color for all your tables something other than the default, you will notice that the extended network now has like a frame/border around it. That is because instead of the extended network being on the 3rd nested table like it used to be, it's now on the 4th nested table, which messes up a LOT of layouts. However, there is a fix for it:

<style>
.a {fix extended network border}
td.text table {visibility:hidden;}
.blurbs table, .blurbs, .extendedNetwork, .latestBlogEntry,
td.text table table, .friendSpace, .friendSpace table, div table, .friendsComments table, .friendsComments {visibility:visible !important;}
.extendedNetwork {position:relative; margin-top:-15px; margin-bottom:-15px;}
</style>

I'm guessing that once myspace notices this problem, they will probably change it back, making this code irrelevant. When/if this happens, this page will be updated, so if there is ever a question, this is the place to go to check for changes.

Here is a screenshot of how the extended network area is structured now:

(click to see larger version)

The black box is the extended network class, and the gray box around that is the 3rd nested table, formerly where the extended network was. But now that they have removed the table underneath the network, a fix is no longer needed - if you still have it in your profile, you can remove it now.

Myspace made a change to the comments today.

They added a columnsWidening class to the TD which contains the comment that people leave you, making it really easy to do a lot of new things (soon to come) - but here's the basics of resizing comment images now:

.columnsWidening img {width:300px;}

For more details, read the updated tutorial: Resize the Images and Videos in your comments

They also made a change to the player which makes it so that you cannot resize it without it getting truncated. Read the updated tutorial: Resizing the myspace mini-player

Myspace made some changes today. Read Tom's Blog about it and also subscribe to this blog and this blog

fixed

1.

They changed how they have the borders set up. If you have noticed that your borders arent what they used to be, then simply add this to your code in your about me section.

<style>
.a {temporary border fix}
table {border-collapse:separate !important;}
</style>

fixed

2.

They made a change that makes all of your default text overlap, creating a huge unreadable mess. If you have noticed that your text is all messed up, then simply add this to your code in your about me section.

<style>
.a {temporary text fix}
td {line-height:12px;}
</style>

You may want to adjust the 12px number depending on your layout - some people say that 15px works better for them, and others say 12px works better.

3.

They changed the search box at the top of the profile, just below the ad. If you previously had that hidden, and you want the new code for hiding it, that can be found here....

Hide Myspace Search Form

4.

If you have noticed that your profile views are no longer incrementing when someone looks at your profile, change your headline, and then change it back. That has been known to jumpstart the views back into working...

5.

If your background isnt showing up anymore, and you used a code that looks like this:
<body background="URL" bgproperties="fixed">

That no longer works. You will need to redo your background code using CSS instead of HTML
You can use the Myspace Katamari Background Generator to get the new code.

1.

They accidently linked everyone's profile to a css file called themeOld.css, and it's not even a valid css file...
but it does have this in it

BODY { font: 8pt/12pt verdana }
H1 { font: 13pt/15pt verdana }
H2 { font: 8pt/12pt verdana }
A:link { color: red }
A:visited { color: maroon }

which makes your links red in some cases

there is this link in the css file

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=8180

so i guess blame microsoft? LOL

anyways... if you want a quick fix for it.... use this:

A:link { color: blue !important }
A:visited { color: hotpink !important }

Fixed

2.

in their profile.css file, which is linked to everyone's profile, they added this

.bodyContent{background-color:#e5e5e5;}

...which overrides the normal background color that you have set.

...and I'm not sure why myspace added a class to the BODY... isnt BODY already unique?

quick fix?

.bodyContent {background-color:TRANSPARENT!important;}

It seems as tho myspace has changed something today (Sept 29) which makes that not work anymore

if that doesnt work, and you are SURE you put it between your style tags, then try this instead using your background color:

.bodyContent {background-color:black!important;}

3.

They also added a div to the friend space area, in a new row below the friends, for the new links.
They didnt give it a class, but it can be selected like this:

.friendSpace td.text div {}

any code you have in your profile that refers to

.redlink {}

you can leave it in as myspace has now added the redlink class to all of the links in that DIV.

if you want to change the style of the links in that new div, you can use this selector (i also included a style with this selector)

.friendSpace td.text div a {color:pink;}

If your "view all friends" links are all stacked up on top of one another, you can use this to fix it

.friendSpace td.text div {white-space:nowrap;}
.friendSpace td.text div a {display:inline !important;}

4.

They are adding something called "Song History" - basicly - each time you add a new song using myspace music, it gets added to your song history which you can then use to make a multisong playlist easily without having to use outside sites.
It looks like this

5.

There are also rumors of them soon adding a rich text editor for private messages.

There are a few small issues going on right now with myspace having updated their base code. The following is a list of them and I will try to keep it as current as possible.

If you are experiencing your meet section and/or friends section completely gone, to fix it, put the following at the end of your about me section, and at the end of your MEET section:

</style>

If you had a premade overlay, and have this line of code anywhere in the code:

.text .text, .btext, .contacttable, .lightbluetext8, .nametext, .orangetext15, .redlink, .whitetext12 {display:none;}

then you will need to change it to this:

.friendSpace, .friendsComments, .btext, .contacttable, .lightbluetext8, .nametext, .orangetext15, .redlink, .whitetext12 {display:none;}

Why? myspace added some spans to the about me section which use the class "text", so that older red code above will hide all of your content as well. That's why everything on your page disappeared.

If your about me section and meet section has just magicly disappeared, look in your code for this:

.text .text {display:none;}

and change it to this:

.friendSpace, .friendsComments {display:none;}

to see an illustration of the new myspace classes, check out Dipp's Profile
